Shepherd's Pie / Tarte au Berger



In honor of Christmas and the shepherds involved in the nativity scene, I made Shepherd's pie for dinner. Yum!

Ingredients
about 3 cups of cooked chickpeas
2 onions, chopped 3 tomatoes, chopped
3-4 cloves of garlic, chopped
1-inch knob of ginger, peeled and grated
about half a cup of raisins (regular or golden or a combination)
cumin
cinnamon
chili powder
water, if needed
sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed

Directions
1) Put all of the ingredients except for the sweet potatoes into a pot.
2) Cook everything over medium heat until the onions are translucent. Stir occasionally and add water if you need some to keep things from sticking to the pan.
3) Transfer the cooked food into an oven pot (or multiple small pots if you want to do individual serving pots like I did).
4) Put the mashed sweet potato on top of the pot or pots.
5) Cook in the oven at 350 degrees F until the potatoes are slightly browned on the top.
